NOOM - PROGRAM DETAILS

Noom is one of the most popular and fastest-growing names in app-based weight loss programs. One of the major differentiators of Noom is that it touts itself as a “wellness program” more than a diet OR a workout app. The idea is that Noom also focuses on the mental aspect of diet and exercise to help you become healthier by changing the way you think about food and fitness to develop better habits.

The Noom website states that they have collaborated with over 45 million users in almost to develop their proprietary behavior change program. One study, published by BMJ Journals, shows that 64% of Noom program completers lost 5% or more of their body weight.

Noom’s basic premise is that losing weight and keeping off is more effective as a result of a lifestyle change rather than a crash diet. Noom helps make that change easier with an app-based support system that helps you track exercise and meals, supplies a library of workout plans, recipes, useful information. They also offer support from a weight loss expert and other members of the Noom community.

Noom structures it’s fitness component around helping users log and calculate their physical activity properly. This includes factoring duration, intensity and daily step goals into an overall lifestyle change to meet weight loss targets. They also include a variety of weight loss routines that range from cardio to weight lifting for weight loss to help members find the right combination of exercises that will help them lay a foundation for physical activity.

Noom is broken into a 2-part program that features weight loss in the 16-week first part and enhancing and maintaining healthy habits in the second part.
