Easy Homemade Applesauce
By: Barb Biagioli
Although traditional applesauce is wonderful and smells like Grandma’s kitchen, you can still enjoy the simmering scents of homemade applesauce without the fuss. Get yourself some crisp apples and you can throw this applesauce together in less than 20 minutes!
Easy Homemade Applesauce Recipe
Prep Time: 5 minutes | Cook Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 20 minutes | Servings: 4 – 6
INGREDIENTS
8 small apples, washed and diced (no peeling)
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ cup water
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a medium saucepan, add the water, maple syrup and apples. Bring to a simmer and cover with a lid on low for 5 minutes. Check the apples, give them a stir to make sure they aren’t sticking to the bottom.
2. On low, continue to cook the apples down until they are soft, another 5-10 minutes.
3. Add the apples to a high-speed blender with the cinnamon. Blend on high until completely emulsified. This will blend all the skins up – you shouldn’t have any chunks or remaining skins. Pour into a glass container.
4. Set aside and let cool. Enjoy over hot oatmeal or by the spoonful!
