Homemade Hazelnut Spread Recipe
Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes |Serving: 2 – 3 cups
INGREDIENTS
3 cups raw hazelnuts, unsalted
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp maple syrup
½ tsp sea salt
2/3 cup HU chocolate gems (or 75% dark chocolate)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Add the hazelnuts to a baking sheet and roast for 12-15 minutes. This will help to loosen the skins.
2. Remove them from the oven and transfer to a kitchen towel. Roll the nuts around and remove most of the skins. You could also try shaking them in a closed mason jar.
3. Add the skinned hazelnuts to a food processor or high-speed blender and blender on low until a butter is formed. This can take a bit of time, up to 10 minutes.
4. In the meantime, heat your dark chocolate over the stove and set aside.
5. Add the vanilla, maple syrup and sea salt to your hazelnut butter in the food processor or blender. Once that is incorporated, begin by adding your melted dark chocolate in increments. Taste and adjust as needed.
6. Transfer to a clean jar and store in the pantry for a few days or refrigerate.
