I’ll never know why it took me so long to get into smoothie bowls. I’ve made smoothies on a regular basis for a while yet it never dawned on me until recently to opt for a smoothie bowl instead. As much as I enjoyed smoothies, I felt somewhat unsatisfied after drinking them. After a few big gulps, the glass was empty and the next thing I knew, I was making another one or finding a snack.

I use smoothies as a way to get fruits and vegetables in so I didn’t want to give them up but something had to change. My bottomless smoothie routine was getting old. One day it clicked that I should try making smoothie bowls and maybe it sounds dramatic but it changed my world for the better. As if the heavens were shining down on the blender and the food angels were breaking out into song, I finally saw the light. I can’t believe how easy smoothie bowls are to make, how good they taste, and how satisfying they are. The best thing about them is how many different amazingly tasty and healthy options there are to choose from. Whether you’re a newbie or a smoothie bowl seasoned vet, here are 7 plant-based smoothie bowl ideas that will prove why they deserve to be one of your go-to’s.

Pineapple Smoothie Bowl

Pineapples for president! I wanted to incorporate more foods in my diet that have a healing element to them and because of the bromelain that pineapples contain, my daily routine of making pineapple bowls was born. Bromelain has been known to help with digestion, decrease inflammation and promote heart health so pineapples were top on my list to start eating more of. This Pineapple Smoothie bowl recipe from The Hint of Rosemary is as easy as it gets because all it calls for is a plant-based milk and pineapples. But don’t mistake that for boring or lacking flavor. I love the combo of soy milk and pineapples and if I’m craving it a little less tangy and sweeter, I’ll add some maple syrup.

Vegan Blueberry Cheesecake Smoothie Bowl

Blueberries for vice president! Although I’m not one to often eat blueberries solo, I do like them and because of their health benefits, they were second on my list to start eating more of. I came across these organic frozen wild blueberries by O Organics and gave them a whirl and I’ve been hooked. This Vegan Blueberry Cheesecake Smoothie Bowl recipe from Love & Zest is made with frozen wild blueberries, almond milk, dates, whole raw cashews, and pure vanilla extract. Looking for something desert-like that’s slightly sweet, dairy-free, healthy, and full of flavor? Here it is.

Mocha Banana Smoothie Bowl

I couldn’t press print fast enough when I came across this Mocha Smoothie Bowl recipe from The Endless Meal. Made with frozen bananas, cocoa powder, and coffee, this smoothie bowl is entirely plant-based, super filling, and is as good as it sounds. And if you want to really doll it up, the base is a perfect canvas to add things like shaved dark chocolate, cacao nibs, coconut flakes, and rose petals to make it that A-level smoothie bowl with the wow factor.

Super Green Smoothie Bowl

One of the easiest ways to eat more spinach is to use it in green smoothies and it never ceases to amaze me how I can’t even taste it after shoving nearly a handful into the blender. This Super Green Smoothie Bowl recipe from the Minimalist Baker is made with spinach, kale, plant-based milk, avocado, bananas, flax seeds, and berries. Completely customizable, if you’re not into one of the ingredients or want to add some toppings, this recipe is perfect for that.

Caramel Apple Crumble Smoothie Bowl

Vegan recipe creators simply amaze me. My pupils turned into hearts and my heart started beating fast after seeing this Caramel Apple Crumble Smoothie Bowl recipe from I Love Vegan. A thick and frosty blend of frozen bananas, coconut milk, a little maple syrup, and a dash of cinnamon and vanilla create the base, and then it’s topped with a smooth caramel spread that’s made with some soft pitted dates with coconut oil, coconut milk, cinnamon, and maple syrup to create a smooth caramel spread. But we’re not done yet. And on top of that is a delicious blend of organic oats, chopped apples, pecans, chia seeds, and cinnamon.

Raspberry Mango

If there is a raspberry mango combination on a menu, it’s hard for me to resist it. I find the two are ideal together. Both fruits are packed with antioxidants and can support healthy blood pressure. Plus they are just delicious, especially in this Raspberry Mango smoothie bowl recipe from Purely Kaylie. Entirely vegan and made with only 5 ingredients, you can choose to use fresh fruit or frozen fruit and your preferred plant-based milk in this one.

Raw Vegan Key Lime Pie Smoothie Bowl

Limes are so underrated to me. The Best Vegan Key Lime Pie Smoothie Bowl recipe from Eating by Elaine is vegan art and if you like anything lime-flavored, prepare to be blown away. Starting with a base of key limes, avocados, dates, frozen cauliflower, almond milk, and a little vanilla and then topped with macadamia nuts, pecans, maple syrup, and coconut, along with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a dash of vanilla = a healthy, plant-based masterpiece.
