Apple Honey Cider
Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 3 hours | Total Time: 3 hours 10 minutes | Servings: 6-8
INGREDIENTS
10 honeycrisp apples
1 orange
3 cinnamon sticks
2 tsp cloves
1 tbsp real maple syrup
½ cup raw honey
10 cups filtered water
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Core and chop the apples. Place them in a large pot or Dutch oven. Slice your orange into rings and add to the pot. (Do not peel the apples or orange). Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, and maple syrup. Then add the water.
2. Bring the pot to a boil over high heat, reduce to medium heat and boil uncovered for 1 hour. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for another 1-2 hours until the liquid has turned an amber gold.
3. Strain the cider through a mesh colander and discard the cooked fruit pulp (or use the leftovers to make applesauce or jam). Once slightly cooled, add the honey to taste and whisk. Garnish with fresh sprinkled cinnamon and sip while its warm!
